Third major of the season, last one on American soil for the year and a course we haven’t ever seen. Should be a good time.

Betting Card!
A bunch of guys I like this week. It was very, very tough to try to pick an outright winner (I tried anyways with Hovland, Day, and Finau), but I did find a handful of golfers that I think can be in the mix this weekend and aren’t getting enough love in the markets.
Wyndham Clark - Top 20 +270 (FanDuel)
Noonan liked him enough to bet him to win the thing. I was a little more risk-averse, but I can’t disagree with his points here, and like him as a nice value for a top 20.
Eric Cole - Top 30 +280 (FanDuel)
The sample size we’re working with on him isn’t massive, making it tricky, but I love Eric here. Coming off a nice week in Canada, notching his 5th top-20 finish of the year, he’s found a game with no glaring weak spots at the moment. If he continues to improve off the tee and with his driving accuracy, he’s liable to mess around and win a tourney this summer.
Si Woo Kim - Top 40 +100 (FanDuel)
Si Woo has a little bit of the Sungjae Im problem: not really performing well at majors outside of the state of Georgia, but he’s playing well at the moment, coming off a top 5 finish at the Memorial. Not a guy I want to bet to win this thing (even at a big number), but someone who I think will find the weekend and stay within striking distance with his excellent Tee to Green metrics.
Favorite Matchup:
I mean it’s clearly Eric Cole over Lucas Herbert. A guy I loved matched up against a guy I’ve bet against a half dozen times this month. But since I’ve already talked some Cole, I’ll defer to the next best look.
Jason Day > Cameron Young +108
I like Cam Young as much as the next guy, and we all remember a really nice Masters performance, but the form is hammered dogshit right now. He can’t figure out the putter, the approach game is now losing to the field over the past 5 tourneys, and being long off the tee isn’t going to be a massive advantage here. I like Day as a ‘dog a ton and added this to the card very quickly this week.
LACC DFS Value Play
Mito Pereira - 7,200
Not only did he make the cut in both majors this year but he gained 17.4 strokes ball-striking on two challenging courses, Augusta National and Oak Hill. He also has four top-10 finishes in seven LIV events this year. This is a great value salary for a player who has the upside to climb the leaderboard.

Weather
It’s Southern Cali, minus the early sunsets we get in the early part of the golf season that delays the cut til Saturday every week. Same slight advantage to the morning crew as usual, but it does not appear that weather will play a big factor this week. We’ll leave most of the changes we’ll see from Thursday-Sunday to the grounds crew and the superintendent.
Vivid Picks
Won’t be doing much for the next four days, so I keep entering more contests and doubling down on the guys I like to play well this week. So, more Eric Cole, more Brooksie and a little extra Hovland for me.
This is just a Round 1 entry, but they had full tournament matchups as well, worth checking out if you are looking for more matchups. They seem to have a ton that aren’t offered at sportsbooks.

U.S. Open Tweets
Lots of Justin Ray this week, guy is a treasure trove of fun facts:
Tracking back to last week a little, the walk-off putt was amazing, obviously but was quickly overtaken by the Hadwin tackle vids. Lost in all of this was 1st alternate Michael Kim making a hilariously timed joke about taking someone in the field out, only a couple hours before Hadwin created a human-sized ball mark on the 18th green under an overzealous security officer.
Best follow-up as well, as he did get in the next day.
and finally, the USGA had a fun time with it as well, leaving Mr. Hadwin some safety gear in his locker for when he arrived in L.A.
As always, be good, have fun, bet responsibly, watch a ton of golf, and be sure to check out all the rest of our content each and every week.
